Wireless tethering from DSLR to iPad3

I am working on a compositing for a client. For a landscape shot I setup my new iPad3 to receive my RAW photos wirelessly from my Canon 5D2 while I am shooting. Everything works flawlessly.
This is pretty cool since 1) I can review my shots on the HD retina display of the iPad, and 2) my photos are immedeately backup as well.

My old workstation becomes a Hackintosh

I got a new workstation (PC) three months ago. Instead of writing off my 3 years old system (PC) I thought I could turn it into a Hackintosh and use it as my backup system.

With the instructions from tonymacx86.com I could easily convert the workstation into a Hackintosh without any hardware modification. To my big surprise everything went so smoothly. After extensive testing I am now having a fast and stable running machine with Mac Os Lion with a performance comparable like the latest Mac Pro 8 core model.

Conclusion: A Mac (Pro) is nothing else than a PC in a designer case that runs on Mac OS.

My new iPad3 as my photo video backup device on the road – and much more

I got my new iPad3 last week and I am eager to share with you my thoughts.
I must admit that I never like the iPad (wrong format. I dont know why Apple dont make them in 16×9) and felt that it does not serve me anything. A have a Macbook Pro 15 and and an iPhone 4S, thus why lugging another item around.

However, with the new iPad3 I felt that maybe it is about time to give it a shot. So I bought the topmodel 64GB Wifi 4G. Now let me tell you why I am already in love with this device.
With its new Retina display and strong processor it serve me as an external backup tool on the road. I can easily transfer my photo and video files via camera connector to the iPad. It reads all my RAW photo and video data from Canon 5D2, 60D, Go Pro without a problem. Data transfer with USB is not the fastest but still ok if u use multiple cards for your shoots. Furthermore with the Apps Photoshop Touch and Avid Studio I can edit my RAW data and upload them to Adobe Cloud. When I back home I can download the data and continue working on my desktop.
This is pretty neat. More of the capability of the new iPad3 coming soon.
